In 2003 Cyrilla was diagnosed with Lupus. Taken care of by family and unable to work fulltime, she aided her sister, Caecilia, in developing a business that provides much needed support to the local farmers who produce high grade cashew nuts. Caecilia used the family recipe and her passion for cooking to create these delicious cashew nuts, while Cyrilla created the company�s branding and packaging using her love of food and abundant knowledge about design. Both sisters hope desperately that through Nuts+Nuts, they will be able to shed light upon Lupus and give courage, comfort, and strength to all those who suffer from it.
With help from partner Nuning, an expert in agriculture, Nuts+Nuts works together with these farmers in a symbiotic relationship. The cashew nuts are purchased directly from the farmers and are cured with a unique and special family recipe to create delicious, freshly roasted snacks, using only natural ingredients and no preservatives. The gourmet cashews are packaged in unique handmade Indonesian packaging made of natural pandanus, wood bark, and banana bark- materials handmade by local communities in Java and Bali.
Nuts+Nuts hopes to foster the cashew nuts industry in Indonesia, providing the farmers with additional knowledge about agriculture and allowing their children to have a better education and a brighter future. Additionally, Nuts+Nuts aims to raise awareness about Lupus, a debilitating disease that affect 2 million Americans and provide support to Lupus patients, their families, and the search for a cure.
